Don't Bring Us Down Teen Angst Don't Fuck Me Up Guarded By Monkeys Mr. Wrong Lonesome Johnny Blues Miss Santa Cruz County Pictures of Matchstick Men Victoria Euro-trash Girl Sweet Magdalena of My Misfortune The Man in Me (Dylan cover - Johnny lead vocs) Sweet Thistle Pie Wedding Day Low What Your Missing ------- Shine Dr. BerniceThey really came out rocking - no Brides of Neptune to warm up. David was in fine form - and perhaps a little tipsy (man, I haven't used that word in a long time). He asked the crowd to please be quiet "because we're gonna play a soft song" right before breaking into Teen Angst. And then saying, "Ok - really. Now we're gonna play a quiet song so shhhhh," before hitting Don't F Me up. He also tried to pull down Johnny's PJ pants during that song. Sweet Thistle Pie saw him getting down on his knees and gnawing on Brandy's guitar - if you can picture that one. Has he been doing this at other shows? He also did it in Denver the next night (but I'll save that review until I get the set list sorted out). After Wedding Day, he started playing the bass line for Low and Brandy started playing the acoustic guitar. That lasted about 60 seconds before he and his cousin switched instruments. He then got a cool thing going with those "violin pedals" before breaking into Low. The fact the band had been drinking before the show was confirmed by one of the guys from Sound of Urchin. All in all - just a great, loose (but tight when needed - killer pause during Matchstick Men that left the crowd totally silent) concert. So good, that we decided we had to go back the next night even though I had work today and all that poop.
Denver set list/review to come soon. Maybe even a better show. The band is wailing - go see them...tell your friends/parents/teachers. For me, best show since the Apothecary tour. Hands down.
peace,
