I saw Cracker open for the Cranberries about six years ago (yes, I know it should be the other way around) and they were spectacular. Tonight they were just as enjoyable. What can I say? Buy their new album, listen to it a few times, then go to the show! You will not be disappointed

I’d seen Cracker 4 times before in NYC (and CVB twice) but seeing them in a bar/nightclub 2 miles from my home, and finally with my wife was really great. As always, Cracker put on the same awesome live show in a nightclub in the NJ suburbs as they do in NYC. Maura and I stood at the side of the stage right next to Brandy and I finally got to hear one of my favorite Cracker songs played live, “I Want Everything”. Cracker is just a great rock ‘n’ roll band and now my wife wants to see them again.
Notes:
After a great version of “Victoria”, David introduced “Bowling” by
telling videotapers to turn on their cameras for the next song, a
performance for an upcoming Michael Moore film about bowling. Then
“while we’re on that trip” launched “Pictures”.
The “Get Off This” rap again included the bash of Virgin Records with
“We didn’t give Mariah Carey 80 million bucks”.
Before the encore started, David told a story about their stop in
Indianapolis with a large group of cheerleaders staying at their hotel.
They all wanted to know who was on the tour bus, and were told it was
Richard Greco. “Who’s Richard Greco?” they asked. “Oh go ask your mom,
she’ll know.” And then later the moms replied with “Who’s Richard
Greco?” A lot of people didn’t get it.
Song Highlights:
“Don’t Bring Us Down” sounded real good live. “Victoria”, “Skinheads”
and “Pictures” were great. “Everything” was a personal highlight
because I heard it live for the first time. “Been Around the World” and
“One Fine Day” are great songs that I’ll never get sick of. The only
thing that would have made for a perfect show was to hear “I See The
Light” or “Sweet Thistle Pie”. I love Cracker and I love them 10 times
more live. Keep rockin’. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
BTW- Morristown has a connection to Michael Moore. About a year or so ago, he had a campaign headquarters at a bar in Morristown for a Ficus Tree that he ran against a previously unopposed candidate (either for the U.S House seat or a State seat). It was quite amusing.
