I have a brother who lives there, so he took me on the tour. Then we headed to the Music Farm.
I think doors opened at 9:00 and when we got there there were a few people waiting. We were told at the door that they were still working on the sound check and it would be a little while. We were able to get in early and was able to watch a little bit of what turned out to be the last game of the World Series with Kenny and Frank. (They were both rooting for the Yankees)
The band was having ALOT of problems with the club's equipment/system. It probably delayed the show an hour or so....I think the problems were annoying the band most of the night. When the show started, I really couldn't hear David's vocals on 'Heaven Knows' for a while....
setlist, no real surprises....
Heaven Knows I'm Lonely Now Been Around The World Seven Days Eurotrash Girl Teen Angst Sweet Thistle Pie Big Dipper Wedding Day Cinderella (LP) Sweet Potato Cracker Soul Mr Wrong Take Me Down to the Infirmary Perfect (LP) Happy Birthday (I think it went out to the women from the local radio station that intoduced the band. It was her birthday) I See The Light *encore* Get Off This Low Pictures Of Matchstick MenDavid was quite talkative, constantly apologizing for the sound problems....... There was a guy yelling "Rock & Roll" the whole night, David had some fun with him '" what do you think we've been playing, polka?"
Also had fun with a big football type guy who was really into "Big Dipper". David was surprised that the big, strong football player type would really get off on "Dipper". He told the women in the crowd that here was this big & sensitive guy......they shouldn't let him get away.....David said something to Brandy about it and she said she didn't really hear what was said, only that she heard 'big' and 'sensitive'.
For this show Kenny was introduced as being from Greenville, SC and Brandy was David's cousin from Alaska.
Got about four hours sleep and headed back to Virginia. I couldn't help thinking of the line from "PLanes, Trains & Automobiles"......'all you see on the interstate is interstate'...
Looking forward to a shorter commute tomorrow in C'ville
