I had the opportunity to listen to Cracker live at HoosierFest in Indiana last night. The threat of rain almost canceled the show with steady rainfall flowing just prior to and during the first afternoon band. I had driven almost 3 hours to see Cracker and I wasn’t about to let Mother Nature get in my way. So her & I made some deals that I won’t bother to write in this message! J At about 4 the sun came out and yes, "dried up all the rain-" and then four more bands had the opportunity to take the stage. The festival organizers did a good job of providing a variety of music styles. During the day the fest' goers were treated to Country, Rock, Funk, and Ska music. All of the bands played about 1-½ hours. Whose idea was that! Uh, sorry Ladies and Gentlemen, but I’d rather listen to unknown bands for MAYBE an hour tops and give Cracker more time to play! (Ok, I’m just a little biased! J So anyway, I got a chance to meet and chill with the wonderful Alex- another Cracker fan- No, make that the biggest Cracker fan I know! So, I guess having to listen to all that fest music wasn’t so bad! ;) After all, we enjoyed our beers and talked about (what else) Cracker! At about 9, we tunneled our way through the crowd to the front of the stage and waited in anticipation for one of the BEST rock bands on the planet! The show was extraordinary. Cracker played the best set- I can’t even list all the songs - Cracker Soul, The real thing, even some Camper! And man! That Johnny is one of the best damn guitarists in the world! (Ladies, if you’ve seen Johnny, you KNOW what I’m sayin’!) He was even nice enough to turn and face a crowed street, of college students, just beyond the fence. Whatta guy! J Anyways kids, if you ever get a chance to see Cracker live you owe it to yourself to go! I can’t say that I paid to get in, ( I didn't sneak in I got there before 4 lol)but I’ll pay any price to see them again! The evening turned out great; Mother Nature was even kind enough to wait until Cracker was almost done before she opened up the sky again. At 11, the concert ended…. Damn curfew law and those festival planners! And so, Cracker had to quit but they were nice enough to say they’d come back. (Hurry) I’d like to thank the talented Jeff for that memento he gave me after the show- baby you are the best! I guess my bottom line to this lengthy message is that the guys & gal just ROCKED! Thank you for playin’ my home state! It was one of the best concert experiences I’ve had in years!
