Heaven Knows I'm Lonely Be My Love Dr. Bernice Tania Eurotrash Girl Wedding Day (with Brandy) Seven Days (with LP) Cinderella Pictures of Matchstick Men Mr. Wrong Lonesome Johnny Blues Happy Birthday to Me How Can I Live Without You Polka (for the kitchen staff apparantly - it was cute) Get Off This (Fuck the slice, I want the pie) Hollywood Cemetary Useless Stuff LP sang a song "You Don't Know" (?) Another Song About the Rain Up in the Air (title may be wrong, I think it's an old Camper song) Been Around the World Big Dipper Low ----- I See the Light James RiverSet ended 12:10 (I think haha)
Wow! what a show. They played 26 songs!! I was so very into it too. :)
Kitty Snyder opened and I enjoyed her set. I bought her cd after the show ended. Talked with her a brief moment, she was very sweet.
And let me just say that LP absolutely blew me away. That was my first time seeing her sing, she sounded terrific. At one point during Cinderella I realized I was just standing there with my mouth hangin open… she can really belt out a tune. Loved the song she sang later in the set too - I danced my little heart out.
I was extremely pleased to hear I See the Light. And I can't even begin to describe what Another Song About the Rain did to me… very beautiful. I was mesmorized. As always, I love to hear Dr. Bernice followed by Tania - it just fits so well. Johnny and Brandy singing together on Wedding Day sounded very tight. I think Brandy sounds great with Cracker.
When David introduced the Polka song he said something about the entire kitchen staff wanting to hear it last time they played House of Blues… or something… too many beers to remember the details except that it was cute. Johnny had the crowd going with this one.
I was kind of looking around to see if I could figure out who was from this list, but I didn't get around to asking anyone outright. I certainly hope those of you who got to go had as much fun as I did
Very very very very very good show :)
first of all, the belly up tavern in solana beach has a really SHITTY parking lot, though i guess thats something you wouldnt know unless you spend three hours in it during a cracker show.
they played a ton of stuff not usually played which was lots of fun....
hollywood cemetary, heaven knows i'm lonely, whole lotta trouble, sweet potato, happy birthday to me, useless stuff. no setlists, except for the belly up show, which i kept since i didnt have a whole lot else to do sitting outside, but unless someone really wants me to post that i'll let it go. the fillmore show was almost 3 hrs long! the west coast is so much more into cracker than the east and the shows over here were probably the most fun of all ive seen. and i'm not just saying that because i always say the last show i saw was the best, but because they really were...they played a ton of songs ive never seen them play before, seemed very happy onstage - lots of smiling going on, you could hear the audience singing along to pretty much every song, and they were really crowded and long shows. they were just so much fun. plus lp was at every show as well as kitty. i just got back from calif about an hour ago.
lorri is gonna love this part considering she's such a huge kitty and old 97's fan... the "97" sticker on kitty's guitar stands for the old 97's. i didnt realize that till i was talking to her about it at the house of blues show. i jokingly suggested that she start covering a 97's song in her set, and she actually liked the idea. she's getting tired of the dylan cover she always does (i want you) and is ready to try something new, and she'd like to try a 97's song. so tell me how cool is kitty?!! i'm gonna have to start following her like cracker now, haha.
it was nice meeting all the west coast people. lorri if you're reading this will you email me.. who am i kidding, lorri reading the cracker list? HA! :) thanks especially to lisa for letting me stay with her in san fran and matthew in la. i think i'm forgetting stuff but i'm really tired right now so thats it for me. oh and one last thing, i love driving on the west coast where 65 mph is "reduced speed". i think matthew would agree with me when i say bitchin'.
