Teen Angst Movie Star How Can I Live Without You Seven Days Heaven Knows I'm Lonely Another Song About the Rain...wow! Take Me Down to the Infirmary Euro-Trash Girl Wedding Day Sweet Thistle Pie Big Dipper Be My Love Dr. Bernice Happy Birthday Get Off This (David sang "F**k the slice, we want the pie" during the nah-nahs..lol) I'm a Little Rocketship Trials and Tribulations Mr. Wrong Whole Lotta TroubleWe got rained on here and there during the show. (it actually started during "another song about the rain" lol). It was cool to hear "Happy Birthday to Me," "Heaven Knows I'm Lonely," and Whole Lotta Trouble!" Were people from the list at the show? I saw a few people up front who were singing along and taking lots of pictures. And lots of people stayed after to talk to Johnny. We didn't talk to the band much, except said hello to Kenny and Brandy, and got a wave from Frank and David. We saw Brandy before the show and she said she was searching for a health food store. lol
Someone was holding up their cell phone, so a friend could hear the show i suppose. And Johnny sang directly into the phone then talked to the person. Cool!
I actually taped the show, but it didn't come out too well. argh! Well I'm beat..good night!

Indeed it was, especially the e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d jam during Another Song About the Rain. Also appreciated the early start (20 mins before scheduled) which allowed for a longer set, that "D'Angelo song" Get Off This, and the fact that they didn't play Low. Without checking the set lists, which I'm sure I'll do later, does anyone know the last time that happened? There were some grumblings of "How could they not play Low?" among the more casual fans when the show ended, but it's not like David didn't warn them early in the show when he said "I hope you don't mind if we don't play all of our greatest hits." Also ran into a member of the list afterwards--I think it was you, John, though I could be wrong because I'm terrible with names.
Hope all you lucky folks out west enjoy the shows coming up. It looks like they've added to the song list, and are actually playing e-mail requests.

Teen Angst Movie Star How Can I Live Without You Seven Days Heaven Knows I'm Lonely Wedding Day Sweet Thistle Pie Dr. Bernice Eurotrash Girl Another Song About the Rain Big Dipper HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!! Take Me Down to the Infirmary Trials & Tribulations Be My Love Get Off This Mr. Wrong I'm a Little Rocket Ship (Lowery solo) Whole Lotta TroubleDefinitely a great show. I'm not sure what they played at South Bend or Downstate Illinois, but this could have been the first HBTM played in years (outstanding). Also of note, no LOW which is rare as well. Also, literally 15 seconds after the last song was played came a huge downpour. Talk about perfect timing. This is definitely the best live band, I love how they constantly mix up their setlist. Can't wait for the Fillmore show next Saturday.

What an amazing show. It was great to hear Happy Birthday and Dr. Bernice. The crowd seemed to really love Dr. Bernice. Absolute kick-ass Another Song About the Rain. When Dave played the solo "Rocketship" his foot missed the pedal to activate the background sounds and he got a little messed up. It was great, because he just smiled and kept playing. Again, no encore. They played straight through when they had to stop. When I called for info, they told me Cracker would be playing from 7:30 to 8:30, but they were on from 7:10 to 9:00.
Afterwards Johnny came out to the front of the stage to talk to me and some other fans. We must have been talking for like 15 minutes. He's such a great guy. I asked him if they still play "Can I Take My Gun To Heaven" and he said that was one they haven't done in a long time, and he'd try to do that one soon. I got a picture of him with me, and the only reason he stopped talking was because one of Chicago's finest threatened to arrest me if I didn't move on. They were cleaning up after the festival. I finally heard the story of why Johnny got beat up by the cops at that Chicago show in '96.
I'm gonna try to post the pictures on the websomewhere. I got about 15, and
I'm hoping they turn out really well since I was so close.
Aloha,
