I've been a longtime Cracker fan and before that a Camper fan and I've seen many shows, but without a doubt this may have been my favorite. I heard a few songs for the 1st time which have been live rarities over the years (Dr. B, Movie Star, Another Song..., and perhaps my favorite How Can I Live W/out You which I hadn't heard since '92).
The band was in a very festive mood and was even taking requests for part of the set (Kenny is from nearby Madison, WI (sic) and was really playing a mean accordion during the opening few tunes). Of course, I anxiously await the 4th of July free show for Taste of Chicago, but will never forget this 6/1 Milwaukee performance.
The following is the set-list (in pretty much the right order - I think, I'm doing this from memory and there we're several beers consumed ):
1.7 Days 2.Eurotrash Girl 3.Lonesome Johnny Blues 4.Pictures of Matchstick Men 5.Dr. Bernice 6.Shake Some Action 7.Sweet Thistle Pie 8.Been Around the World 9.Mr. Wrong 10.Another Song About the Rain 11.Big Dipper 12.Teen Angst 13.The Golden Age 14.Low 15.I'm a Little Rocket Ship (Lowery solo) 16.Be My Love 17.Wedding Day 18.Movie Star 19.How Can I Live Without You 20.St. Cajetan 21.100 Flower Power Max.Jon Harrison
Cracker played in Milwaukee last night, and i decided to go to the show on a whim. just can't get enough of those guys! :) i had to take several buses to get there, but it was worth it! the show didn't start until around 8:30. there wasn't a very big crowd. we just sat in some chairs on the side and watched the opening band, koester. we talked to jeff, woody and frank a bit. then johnny came over and sat down by us. :) finally cracker came on. we stood a few rows back on johnny's side. it was a very different crowd from all those CC shows.
here's the setlist:
1.7 Days 2.Eurotrash Girl 3.Lonesome Johnny Blues 4.Dr. Bernice 5.Pictures of Matchstickmen 6.Shake Some Action 7.Sweet Thistle Pie 8.Big Dipper 9.Mr. Wrong 10.The Golden Age 11.Another Song About the Rain 12.I'm a Little Rocketship--just David alone 13.Been Around the World--Johnny ran offstage into the crowd w/his guitar! 14.Wedding Day--Johnny and Brandy 15.Low 16.Movie Star 17.How Can I Live Without You --- 18.St. Cajetan 19.100 Flower Power Maximumit was a great show. they took requests the whole time. david tried to de-pant johnny a few times. lol. and david made some funny jokes about "Low." he said that some girl in Toledo asked him why they always play that Counting Crows cover. and then in minneapolis, Kiss and Ted Nugent were playing across the street. some guy asked David if they could play Low early in the set so he could leave and catch the show across the street. haha
after the show, we went out and waited by the bus. their weren't many people waiting. frank came out and took
everyone standing there backstage. it was a really weird backstage. lots of lava lamps and pillows. lol. we sat
down and talked to the guys a bit. they had to be in michigan tonight, but david decided they should go drinking
with his buddies from milwaukee. we could have gone along, but it was getting late and we had a long drive ahead
of us back to chicago. oh well. next time! haha! can't wait to see the band again on july 4th!
