i got into providence in the afternoon and slept in a coffee shop for a little bit, heard a couple songs from the soundcheck (mr wrong and dixie babylon) and went to the library to sleep more. did you know that everything in providence closes by 6pm? yeah...
went to get in line for the show around 7 and there were about five guys and girls, they were 17 or something. oh my god they annoyed the hell out of me. they kept talking about how much they knew about cracker, then the push stars walked by and they all freaked out because they swore it was cracker.
there were a lot of younger people at this show. i would definitely take the loud drunk people over them any day. i looked around a couple times during the show and very few people were singing along. there was even a bit of space between the people standing in the front and the people behind them.
the push stars opened, they were okay, but they didnt really fit with cracker i dont think. or maybe i'm just saying that cause i wanted to see rogue's march instead. rogue's march is opening tonight.
cracker came out, here's the setlist:
1.been around the world 2.take me down to the infirmary 3.how can i live without you 4.eurotrash girl 5.lonesome johnny blues 6.dr bernice 7.pictures of matchstick men 8.100 flower power maximum 9.mr wrong 10.another song about the rain 11.teen angst 12.i ride my bike 13.big dipper 14.be my love (david broke a string) 15.low *encore* 16.i'm a little rocketship (david solo) 17.trials & tribulations ..david introduced the band.. 18.satisfy yourocketship was definitely the highlight for me. for those of you who were at the nye show, it was just like that. just david and his samper. it was great.
they added accordion to the end of t&t, that was pretty cool, it sounded neat. johnny did an amazing guitar solo at the end of song bout the rain.
i think johnny's guitar was turned up a little too loud, it drowned out david's lyrics a bit, especially during matchstick men. not that his guitar playing isnt amazing, but it was a little too loud.
there was a big pole a little to the right of frank, and i was right in front of johnny, so i couldnt see frank at all. :(
the "virtual sex" with johnny and brandy during i ride my bike was great..i took a couple pics during the show so hopefully they'll come out and everyone on the west coast or wherever can see brandy.
phillippe talked to david afterwards and i think he's getting/has the flu or something like that. i dont know, thats what phillippe said. hopefully no shows will have to be cancelled though.
wow i just read over this and it sounds pretty negative. it wasnt a bad show at all...not my favorite ive been too...but obviously very happy i went and it was great, especially rocketship. i'm sure i'll have better things to say once ive caught up on my sleep. ive had about two hours of sleep altogether since tuesday night.
my bus left providence at 2:45am this morning..i stayed in the lobby of the place phillippe was staying at for about an hour, right outside the hotel some guy picked up a hooker...then as i was walking to the bus station some other guy slowed down in his car and asked if i wanted a ride. yeah so anyways, i'm gonna take a little nap now.
sorry, my review kinda sucked

The new bass player seems to know the tunes but most of the time I was wondering if she was dying by the look on her face. Has anyone else noticed that. Extreme discontent or sadness of something... Who knows
Be good, jeff
I'd have to say it was probably my favorite set list from the 7 or 8 Cracker shows I've seen. They did "Matchstick Men," "Another Song About the Rain," "Infirmary," and "Big Dipper," among others, and encored with a REALLY cool David-only "Rocketship" (much weirder and better than the album version, IMHO) and "Trials and Tribulations." And was "Satisfy You" part of the encore? I already forget. Would've liked to have heard a few more from GB, maybe in the place of "Eurotrash" or "Low," but then again, both of those sounded good. One loudmouth in the back kept yelling for "Eurotrash" after they had already played it.
See ya,
Dan
