The guys played an awesome one and a half hour set! I made my way to the front row (a barrier separated us from the stage) . For the entire concert, I stood up front, on Johnny's side, right next to the huge speakers (my ears are paying for it!). I brought my camera and could have taken some great pics, but I was literally standing right next to the security guard and the sign that said no cameras allowed. Anyway, here's the setlist(I wrote it down):
1.Been Around the World 2.EuroTrash Girl 3.How Can I Live Without You 4.Shiner Song 5.Lonesome Johnny Blues 6.The Good Life 7.Teen Angst 8.100 Flower Power Maximum 9.Mr. Wrong 10.Pictures of Matchstick Men 11.I Ride My Bike 12.Big Dipper 13.St. Cajetan 14.Low ------- 15.Seven Days 16.This is Cracker Soul 17.Sweet Thistle PieHighlights for me included "Been Around the World," the really intense "I Ride My Bike," "Big Dipper," and "St. Cajetan." I spent most of my time watching Johnny. That man rocks! I got lots of smiles from him when he saw that I actually knew the words and was singing along. I couldn't see Kenny because the speakers were in the way. David kept making funny comments about other bands like Everlast and Chicago bands like Veruca Salt, Wilco, and Smashing Pumpkins. Most of the crowd just seemed like they were there for the beer and weren't really familiar with the band, but seemed to enjoy the show(how could they not?). My cousin who wasn't familiar with the band also really enjoyed the show, especially the stuff from "Gentleman Blues," which she says she plans on buying right away! :)
My only regret is that I didn't stay after the show to try and meet the guys. I had brought my "Bob's Car" cd and would have loved to get it signed! Oh well. Next time (hopefully sooner than a year this time!)
Kristin :)
I just hope that someday they'll be able to write a classic rock anthem the way Everlast does. Or maybe Smashmouth. And talked about twenty years from now, the way we'll be talking about Sugar Ray and Marcy Playground. I think David drove to Chicago and found a place to be surly.
Hey, what'ya know, WXRT is playing "Get Off This" right now.
