first the set list: (thanks to Chris for keeping track!) (in order no less!)
Been Around the World 7 Days Teen Angst Lonesome Johnny Blues The Good Life Big Dipper Euro-trash Girl The World Is Mine Take Me Down to the Infirmary Wedding Day (awesome!) Mr. Wrong Pictures of Matchstick Man 100 Flower Power Maximum Low *encore* I Ride My BikeOk now some thoughts from me....
Well.... we got there a tad early and had not much luck selling the extra ticket, but Mark was really nice about picking it up! =) They were selling t-shirts there for $20 black ones and white ones w/ the GB cat on them, so I got a white one (only large and extra large, so none too flattering for the female figure...) anyway... the opening band was To the Moon Alice and they weren't bad, they had a really good guitar player... They were alright.
Then Cracker came on and even though it was assigned seating everyone rushed the stage, so I suppose I ended up about 3 people back from the stage. I was about center right in front of Dave. They played really well but didn't seem to have the energy at first and the crowd seemed to want to hear only the hits. But after a few songs they got into it. Their version of Big Dipper was beautifully mesmerizing, and Wedding Day was really great to hear live, it comes out REALLY WELL live. There weren't many people there for the show, so perhaps that had something to do w/ the band's lack of energy... They still played really well. I managed to snap a roll of film from the no flash camera (flashes weren't allowed) but I don't know if they'll turn out w/ the lighting as it was. David didn't include the extra verse of I Ride My Bike ("the sky is not blue" verse, that is)... They then plugged the Richmond show and left... Afterwards, Jill (list member who came along who is hopefully going to add her own review...) got to talk w/ Kenny in hopes of getting in to the Flood Zone show, but she wasn't successful...

well like you guys said, the crowd didn't seem to be too into it, but the guy next to me was singing along to every song, so at least someone besides us seemed to enjoy it, and know all the songs beyond just Low and Euro-trash Girl, which seemed to be what everyone was there to hear.
the crowd didn't seem to be too enthused about the show. after each song ended and everyone clapped, it was basically silent until they started playing again. at one point someone yelled to David to wake up the audience, I think it was Johnny who said that wasn't their job. some guy got up on stage during one of the songs (cant remember which) and dove out into the crowd... Johnny seemed to like that. Johnny also showed his "bad tattoo" during Mr. Wrong.
it was nice being right up front and center, I got some great pics and like Jessica said, I talked to Kenny after the show hoping that maybe he could help me into the flood zone show, which is tonight, but he couldn't help. I did get a good picture of me with him though (thanks mark, for taking that!). he told me to ask Johnny or David to help me get in, since they probably have more leverage in that than he does. so I'm just planning on getting to the show early tonight, and hopefully I'll be able to talk to one of them before the show.
anyway, I had a great time at the JMU show!
peace, Jill
