OK - the Addicted To Noise review of Wednesday's show wasn't wholly accurate....only one coin got thrown as far as I could see, the rest of the time some hilarious guy was throwing playing cards on stage. Oh how we laughed at his wit. David offered to split the pack for 100 dollars and the kid went a bit quiet then, but Bob threatened to put his Bass through his head later on when he threw another. It was only when the coin turned up on stage that David started to get really annoyed - it was kind of understandable....did these people not realize that the ONLY thing to do at Cracker shows is get down the front and be JET-LAGGED?????
Seriously though - I thought both shows were cool - but maybe I was just so over-excited at actually seeing them play. I thought the selection of songs was better on Wednesday (they did Circus, Lonesome J, Infirmary, & St. Cajetan which they missed the next night but did Shiner instead!)
Duritz sang Cracker Soul both nights and on the thursday he did a song from the new Crows album which didn't sound half bad - if only it'd been half as long : ) Dennis Herring played on the Gram Parsons cover version both nights, and David Immergluck broke out the pedal steel on the Thursday for Big Dipper...yay! That ruled.
And has anyone mentioned the Mickey Dolenz experience yet??? I wasn't the only English man at the shows...
Anyway I had a great time and the perfect hosts...they know who they are...and their generosity won't EVER be forgotten.
